To meet the Sustainable Development Goals and advance the energy transition we need to accelerate the production of minerals while we protect people and improve the planet.
Regeneration has a unique focus on finding minerals in waste left behind from past mining. For us, old, brownfield mine sites are an opportunity. We remine or treat waste, then reclaim sites and restore natural habitats. We use innovation to drive better outcomes and help lower mining’s footprint.
The combination of remining and restoration is powerful. As a public benefit company, we are committed to working with communities to build a positive future. We believe that communities and lands impacted by mine waste deserve a second chance.
Over the past year, we built our site and technology inventory, strengthened our global team, and helped put remining and restoration on the public policy agenda. Our team includes experts from mining, NGOs, and academia. Our partners are from the tech sector and consumer brands, mining and metallurgy, engineering and restoration, policy and politics, communications, and the law.
Thanks to all who value our company, share our commitment, and support our cause.
Begin again,
Begin Again
Waste from past mining is a hidden solution; it can support restoration while providing minerals for the energy transition, green tech, and sustainable brands. This unique combination offers an opportunity to “begin again” for communities and lands impacted by legacy mines.
Regeneration is an international social enterprise that converts mine waste into responsible minerals and turns degraded lands into ecological and community assets.
As a public benefit company, we work in partnership with local communities, governments, Indigenous communities, and strategic business partners in the mining, technology, and remediation and restoration sectors.
Technologies Evaluated
We are evaluating a wide range of established and emerging technologies to characterize and recover metals from mine waste and water, and to advance restoration. We have already identified more than 20 relevant technologies and made our first seed-investment in one to target bauxite waste. We are exploring many other partnerships.
Salmon GoldTM Sites
Salmon Gold remines and restores historical placer gold mine sites that are critical for fish habitat. We have 15 active or prospective sites in Alaska, the Yukon Territory, and British Columbia. Apple and Mejuri are key partners in advancing these projects.
Regeneration has worked closely with Rio Tinto, our catalytic first investor, to evaluate remining and restoration opportunities and on research and development projects. We added Apple and Mejuri as founding partners.
